Radix Astragali is the dried root of Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bge. var. mongholicus (Bge.) Hsiao or Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bge. (Fam. Leguminosae). The drug is collected in spring or autumn, removed from rootlet and root stock, dried in the sun.

Actions^#

Tonify qi, upraise yang, secure the exterior, stop sweating, promote urination, alleviate edema, engender fluids, nourish blood, move stagnation, relieve impediment, expel toxin and pus, promote wound healing and promote tissue regeneration.
