Identification of Easily Confused Species of Chinese Materia Medica in Hong Kong by Macroscopic and Microscopic Characteristics

Purpose

  • The project endeavors to strengthen the ability of the industry and the public on identifying CMMs, to safeguard the safety and quality of Chinese medicines; and to promote the development of Chinese medicines and testing sectors and the trade of Chinese medicines.

Method

  • This project use macroscopic and microscopic method to differentiate the easily confused pairs of Chinese materia medica (“CMM”) in the Hong Kong market.

Characteristics of the project

  • make use of simple and practical methods;
  • illustrate by comparison on the differentiation of the easily confused pairs of CMMs.
