Training Seminar on the Overview of Updates in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2025 Edition) and Safety Testing Techniques

With the full implementation of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2025 Edition), new and revised technical indicators and standards for quality control and safety regulation of Chinese medicines have been introduced. To assist the local Chinese medicines industry and testing sector in grasping the national standards and regulatory technical requirements, the Government Chinese Medicines Testing Institute (GCMTI) will organise a specialised training seminar in September 2026.

This seminar will feature experts from the Guangzhou Institute for Drug Control delivering in-person lectures in Hong Kong. The seminar will provide an overview of key revisions in the new edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia and its safety testing technologies, aiming to foster academic exchange and collaboratively drive the high-quality development of Chinese medicines in the Greater Bay Area.

Key Contents:

  1. Overview of major revisions of Volume I of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2025 Edition): An in-depth interpretation of the additions, revisions, and core changes to the standards for Chinese medicines and decoction pieces, as well as their regulatory impact and compliance strategies for the local CM industry.

  2. Safety testing technologies and case studies in Chinese Medicines: A comprehensive analysis of updated testing methodologies and latest limits for pesticide residues, heavy metals and toxic elements and mycotoxins. Practical experience and case sharing will explore critical control points and common technical challenges.

  3. Introduction to Photostimulated Luminescence (PSL) Detection Method: An overview of the newly added PSL detection method for irradiated Chinese medicines in the new edition of the Pharmacopoeia, with a comprehensive explanation of its principles, operational standards, and practical applications in quality control.

  4. Matrix Analysis Technologies: An exploration of high-throughput screening and advanced analytical techniques for exogenous contaminants in complex matrices.
